Breaking Boundaries & Empowering Lives!

Who We Are

Located on 30 beautiful acres in Parker County, just a few miles north of the court house in Weatherford, Texas, you’ll find Hope for the Trail, a 501(c)(3) non-profit which provides certified therapeutic horsemanship for individuals facing life challenges of all kinds. The natural movements of a horse achieve such a rhythm as to mimic the human gait, improving balance, muscle control and posture in the rider, as well as confidence and self-esteem. Often these individuals are classified as “handicapped,” but we prefer to operate under the belief that they are “handi-capable,” providing our program with its heart and passion.

You’re not disabled by the disabilities you have, you are able by the abilities you have.

Combining lifetime love of the horse, with a heart to serve those in the special needs community and beyond, founders Kevin and Melinda Garman, and their daughter Maddie, realized a dream when HFTT opened its doors.

Maddie, with extensive experience in multiple equine disciplines and riding instruction, is certified in therapeutic horsemanship instruction through industry standard, PATH International. HFTT will also be working toward becoming a certified facility through this prestigious organization.

In addition to serving the needs of those challenged in our community, we also provide rich volunteer opportunities, allowing others to be involved.
